Hi guys, I've always heard that in most cases manual transmissions are way faster than automatics for 1/4 mile racing.. Have any of you compared a 5 speed manual vs an automatic improved with the B&M Shiftplus? Is the manual still a lot faster? Are they similar? What times did you get? I ask cause I purchased a B&M Shiftplus kit for my 2.4 auto Sunfire but I also have the option of making a swap since there's some guy selling a 2.4 manual for spare
Auto's shift faster than a manual, but you lose more hp with a auto.Haven't had any experience with the shift plus, cause mines a manual. But if it were me,I'd swap a auto for a manual any day.

I've heard that too.. How much power are we talking about?
On my old car, i didn't have a shift plus shift kit, i had the trans line pressure tuned through HPT which worked perfect. There were no delays during shifts and i loved it.

Nice, I hope to get the same results with the B&M kit my only concern is that the kit was not made for 4T40E transmissions.. I'd hate to get the Check Engine light on but I hope I won't...

I installed it on my sunfire ('02) a few years ago, and it worked fine. I had to restart the car to get it go back to the "stock" setting.
The only reason I like the B&M unit more than HPT (turning up line pressure), is because it can be turned off for when youre "lazy" driving. Having hard shifts all the time when you dont want 'em is annoying.
No CEL for me when I had it.
