Missing piece?
Thursday, August 27, 2009 1:06 PM
I dropped the trans out of my '04 yesterday, and after I was done I found a small plastic piece and a spring laying on the floor. I was able to stay and do at work on the second shift because a guy was on vacation. I'm not sure if it was on the floor when I started, I never think of looking for extra parts before I start. I asked the guy who's in that bay in the mornings if he remembered loosing it off a car he worked on, and he didn't. It's a large shop and things can get kicked around, and it could have come from anywhere on either shift. I looked at it today on my down time, and the only place I can find that it fits is where the hydraulic line goes into the trans. It fits perfectly, but I don't see what purpose it would serve... either way it would block fluid flow one way or the other. And it was clean and dry, so I really don't think it was out of there. So does it go in there, or has it been being kicked around all over the shop for the past few weeks? A few pics, with a quarter for size reference:

Thanks,
Jason

Ok, I answered my own question. Don't know why I asked, I should have known the salvage yard would simply cut the hose rather than remove the line

It was all there intact... If anyone else finds this piece, it goes in o-ring first with the spring around the narrower part... so the spring touches the line.
