i was just wondering what is the major differences between a short shifter and stock? just a curious question because i just cut like an inch and a half off of my shaft so i was wondering if that is the same or is it what you cant see that is different?
The difference is in what you can't see...short shift refers to it being a 'short throw shifter'...the pivot ball that is connected to your shift linkage cables is shorter and angled differently than stock. This results in the "throw" of the of the shift, or how far you moe the shifter, making shifts quicker and smoother.
haha
wow...
i didnt know anyone still thought cutting it was the same. same distance of a throw x2 for Evilution up there.

OUCH!!!
that HAD to hurt!!!!
LoL
HAHAH!!! still pushin about 14 tho lol.....
AND I didnt think that they were the same....thats why i asked. Im just learning is all lol
A short shifter will be longer below the ball so it requires less travel above the ball to equal the same amount of throw or cable travel below the ball.
so you if you really wanted to you could probably make one......not that it would be identical but you could cut it below the ball and weld a socket or somethin in to make it a bit longer? cause ive read on some other forums about people doin this buy it wasn't the same kind of shaft set up
^ ^ ^ Yes, I extended mine an inch with 1/2" diameter rod.
