hey guys, i used to have a black cavalier auto, but now i have a sunfire with a 5 speed.

now i had this problem since i got it. the clutch pedal seems to stay down when it doesnt run for abit. and when im driving the clutch pedal keeps getting looser and looser.
i had my mechanic do the safety on the car, and he said someone put power steering fluid, and now i have to replace all of the fliud, including the stuff in the clutch already, how am i going to do that? where do i start from? and how am goin to do this? thanks guys at j-body.

There is a bleeder on the slave cylinder on the transaxle. Put a drain pan under it and crack it open. let the fluid drain out while keeping the reservoir topped off. Since you have the wrong fluid in there already, I would let a couple bottles run through it. I don't have a whole lot of experience with transmissions, but from my limited experience, I have found that the procedure usually calls for pumping the clutch pedal and having someone open the bleeder (just like bleeding brakes). I changed the fluid on my '04 last weekend, and doing it this way, the pedal wouldn't come up off the floor. I ended up just putting a vacuum brake bleeder on the bleeder and it worked just fine, the pedal is better than it ever was before.

ok, so if i put a vacuum on the bleeder, suck all the fliud out, mabye, just mabye i could get it back, but i think there is a leak, and one of the gaskets are done on the slave. but thanks though i will try that., but like i said, the guy who had it before me put power sterring fluid into it, I DONT KNOW WHY!!!!. but hell hes one stupid person outta a whole lot. lol jokes.

Be sure you use an actual vacuum brake bleeder attachment. It's basically a can that has both hoses go into the top so the fluid falls to the bottom and doesn't go through the pump itself, don't want to get brake fluid in the pump or it'll eat up the plunger.

alright well i just took a look underneath my car the other morning, the is a puddle of fluid, so i went and took a look, sure enough its coming from the transmission. talkin to one of my streetscene members that night, he says not only do you have to repalce the slave cylinder, you may also have to replace the clutch as well, because of the fluid leaking on it. so im sucked outta 300 for the labour and another idk how much for the rest. thanx J-Ri, but more money into my car. thanx
