Alright this summer i want to convert my 1997 auto 2.4L sunfire to a manual 5 speed. Can i just use any manual transmission from a 95-02 sunfire or is there a certain one that i need to get? Another question that i have is; 'is the sunfire and the caviler 2.4L the same or are they totally different.. I know it would probably be eaiser to just buy 2.2L and drop the 2.4L in but i like the car i got. I put neons on, and abunch of other shyt that is a pain to get off. Opions in need

i'm not an expert on this but i think you would need a 96-99 transmission, harness and ECU. i know you will need to cut out the auto mounts and weld in the factory mounts. than, swap shifters and cables, different axles and install the clutch pedal and clutch line. i know on some cars (240sx, celica, escort) you will not need to get a new brake pedal, just shave down your auto pedal. but on other cars (early 90s chevy 1500 is all i can think of) you will need a new brake pedal to fit. cavalier? im not so sure what you need so search that to. theres a complete setup for sale on teh classifieds section.

and in the future PLEASE use the search button. i know i'm guilty of not using it and making worthless threads at times but it helps, really it does. esspecially on something like this thats been asked alot of times.

Get all the parts you need in a pile, and drive the car into it.
They will find their way into the correct places.
