Well last thursday my second gear went out while I was leaving my house.
So im picking up a getrag with 32,000 mile on it for $300.
I dont have enough money to pay a shop.
I was wondering how hard this would be for myself to do?
My car is a 2002 ls sport cavalier with the ecotec.

Depends on your tool availability and your automobile knowledge. I could prolly do it in 3-4hrs max. But only because I know what I am doing, and exactly what needs to get out of the way.
Cherry Picker for sure will make your life a lot easier. If you don't have one, you can get by without it but make sure you have someone else helping you since you have to play the jack balancing game.
Just figure out a saturday where you have 8hrs you can set a side to do this. Your first challenge will be trying to find all the bolts to un-mate the trans from the motor. Everyone almost always misses a bolt. There is a pesky hidden one behind the thermostat housing which requires a good length extension to get it out from the passenger side of the motor.
Ok thanks.I can get a cherry picker.I was wondering if I had to take both axles out or just the drivers side?Would I have to align the clutch when I put the other trans in?
Is there any little things I gotta watch out for?
Ive changed out trans in a v8 camaro but never touched a fwd transmission.
Do I have to take the front bumper or fenders off or anything like that?

you won't have to pull the fenders or bumper. You will have to pull both axles out, When I to mine I dont use a cherry picker. I nomally use 3 peices of 4in by 4in lumber one across the firewall by the wipers and one across the core support then one over the both of them it will look like the letter I when you veiw it from above. Just usde screws to hold it together and run a chain over the top to seccure the motor to the 4x4 bracing. This will hold the weight of the motor up and wont put the legs of the picker in your way when your under the car taking the trans down.
The only other thing that comes to mind would be to check out pj's subframe mod as it has saved me a little time pulling the trans on my j's
