Air in the Clutch system
Friday, February 20, 2009 5:14 PM
Hey guys,
So, I have been having trouble with my clutch in a 99 cavalier 2.2 5 speed. The first problem turned out to be the slave seal blew, so I replaced the slave and clutch disc/pressure plate all at once. Then it was still getting air in the system somehow so i replaced the master cylinder, and reservoir. So, i have replaced, the reservoir, hose from reservoir to master cylinder, master cylinder, throw out bearing/slave cylinder. The only thing not replaced is the hose to the hose with the quick connect, since i just found out you can only get it from a dealer, with a new master for $144. The problem is that i will bleed the system, and have immediate pressure on the pedal, for about half a day. At that point i will get a little more than an inch of free movement on the pedal before it gets pressure, then it will start to grind gears as the pedal gets pressure almost at the floor. I cant find any leaks, i sprayed soapy water all along the line and find no bubbles, no fluid is being lost. I am at my wits end. I am about ready to sell this pile so please help me!
thanks guys
