Mobile 1 Synthetic ATF

Have you guys seen this stuff yet or have been using it? I just found it at Advance Auto and snatched up 4 quarts for my 4T40E. It says "New Formula" on the bottle. I was looking for this stuff last year but couldn't find it anywhere(didn't know they even made it for transmissions)

Is it new?, have I been missing it all this time? Regardless, I have 5 more quarts to buy at 8.75 a damn piece lol. This is the last item I've been waiting for to complete my built tranny.

this transmission oil... i read about it often on here. why/how often do you change it?

Re: Mobile 1 Synthetic ATF

Should change it every 60k or so if you're pretty docile. I usually do mine (manual 01 z24) every 35-45k.

Royal purple's pretty good too. all my motor oil and tranny fluid's RP.

If you want to save some money, GM standard dexron 6's good and cheap. I was running that before. It was brilliant.

Yea change it every 70-90k or so. Depends on how the car is drivin.

Im using this new synthetic because it'll be raced pretty good this year. I want extra protection for my tranny.

I completely flushed and filled my transmission with this stuff right after I got my car, and I could tell the difference right away, its really nice.

would you guys recommend swapping to this stuff and changing the filter on a 100,000 miles tranny that you dont know the history of?

id love to do it but ive heard horror stories of tranny's going bad after changing the fluid like that, let along synth.

Needing 2.3 oil pump stuff? PM me...
Re: Mobile 1 Synthetic ATF

I'd just do it.

usually if @!#$ @!#$ up, that means that the gunk and junk was holding the tranny together. So if it didn't go before the tranny fluid change, then it'd be just a matter of time....

I dont recommend that with that high miles. Id use the same theory that goes for Synthetic Motor oil. Usually with miles that high you usually want to add Synth blend, not full Synth.

Ask me in a couple days. I'm going with either B&M TrickShift (Haven't found definite answer on whether it's ok or not) or RP/Mobil1.

Because I believe that guy I quoted is talking about flushing is tranny PERIOD for the first time. He doesnt need to do it this early. Hell I don't know if its ok or not to use synthetic in the tranny with 100k, like I said if its the motor with 100k then no to full synthetic.

I switched to full synthetic from full conventional oil at 100k... no problems. No oil consumption.

Then again, it's only had 1 wheel bearing replaced (under warranty at like 15k miles) and hasn't had any of the issues other 3rd gen owners have had...

I treat my car nicer than I treat my women.

I flush mine every 30,000 to 40,000. The 4T40-E has had synthetic since 62,000 and now has 127,000ish.

My HHR will have synthetic in the F23 here in a few weeks.
