Coming to you guys again with another question. Here's my situation, as of late (last 2 weeks) I'll be driving and shift into 2nd gear and start the give it some throttle when all of a sudden the my car has a harsh jerk forward and the car pops out of gear into neutral. All other gears are fine, just 2nd is the only one that does this to me.
What are some possibilities? or anyone else experience this problem?
Thanks in advance.

Second gear synchro is dead. I have had a couple do that on me.

Sounds more like the plastic shift fork tips are shot.
FU Tuning
I had several go that the shift fork tips were is great shape. Even if it is only the tips the synchro may be damaged.
If its the synchro you might just be better ff finding a replacement trans. Last time I checked I was going to be looking at close to $400 in parts. I have been replacing mine with $450 0 mile transmissions. Well one had 62 miles on it and was from a "special purpose" Sunfire.
Bad synchro's does not make it pop out of gear, but has problems (usually grinding) going into gear. Popping out of gear is the shift fork tips, because it can't hold it in position properly.

2nd gear synchro was toast, fork tip was in excellent shape. Have also talked to other people with other transmissions that would pop out of gear due to a wasted synchro.
so it is definitely one of the 2, either shift fork tips or the synchro. is the only way to find out for sure to have someone tear into the tranny?

It happens on the Isuzu trans...you will learn that.
i have a 2002 cavalier 2200 ohv 5speed. went out last night and my car did the same thing. pulled onto road went from 1st to 2nd and started to accelerate easy in 2nd and it popped out. so i tried to put it back in 2nd and accelerate again and it again popped out. i've been told synchro by everyone here that have rebuilt cavalier motors and trans. i was told to look for a new trans b/c parts would cost just as much as another trans. if i was to do a swap what would you guys think? im thinkin 2.2eco. found a few in town for $300 or $350. any advice?
