hey whats up guys im new to the j body world. I'm hoping you may be able to help me with answering some questions. I've got a 96 sunfire and recently ran in to some trans. issues. The problem is that when your going down the road in a straight line its good, but when you turn the steering wheel while the wheels are moving it pops like a 4wheel drive truck. strange right, at first i thought that it could have been the half shafts, so i bought and replaced the two. To my disappointment it didn't fix the problem, so now my question is my transmission blown or what else could be the problem.
are the shift realy long?
do you smell burned fluid?
how many miles?
when was the last time the fluid was changed?
it acts normally there's no smells nothing to make me say that there's a obvious problem , the only times it acts up is when you turn the steering wheel and the car is in motion . as far as the miles go its got 169xxx ,fluids are all fine
I suspect you should check your CV axel joints, and if good, check your front wheel bearings. Good luck.
replaced the axel shafts and wheel bearings are fine, another thing i hadn't mentioned was if the car is motion and you let off the gas pedal it makes a clicking noise
Sound like your differential is going bad
sorry if it sounds like a stupid question but aren't the differential and trans. the same thing
