Blew my tranny

So cruising down the Northern State Parkway and i hear clunking which i thought was a flat tire. I pull over, look at all 4 tires and none are flat. so i get back in my car, start her up and decide to drive slowly. I hit the gas andmy tach goes up, my speedo goes up, but im not moving. 4t40e btw. So im thinking snapped output shaft. Cause clearly the reluctor wheel is still registering with the VSS. But nothing is making it to the ground. No forward gears no reverse. When i put it into park it makes a grinding noise.

So output shaft yes? any suggestions?

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

wow that sucks... it may just be a CV /jointshaft that you broke.. I would highly doubt you blowing a tranny just cruising unless you were running it really hard or doing neutral drops

The VSS reluctor gear is on the differential, which sits inside the passenger side of the tranny. If the speedo is showing speed, then the problem is after the diff. After the diff are the output shaft, axles shafts and CV joints.

Ok so i got back from work and crawled under the car. Passenger side half-shaft isnt connected at the transmission. I felt inside and it seems as though the shaft in the tranny is what broke as suspected. Wont know if the half shaft is still good till i get her home in a week but thanks for the tips.

NO FRICKIN IDEA lol

i was going stright on the highway so its not like i was doing hard cornering to pull it out. Myself, my stepdad and my mechanic friend all stood around scratching our heads wondering how it popped out after a year of being in.

no idea how

I had the exact same thing happen to my car after I put a pass. axle in it. I ended up having to put a new C-clip on and its beens fine ever since.
