What is the typical Lifespan for a 3AT with proper service?
I am creeping up to 150K on mine and while she doesnt feel as smooth as my 06 honda's 5AT, shes pretty smooth for a 13 y/o car. Anyone over 200,000 on a 3AT yet?

im at 170,000 miles on mine! still shifts well, serviced roughly a yeaar ago.
have you changed the fluid at any point and time?
if you havent....leave it be. hard lesson to learn with kristins car.
if you service a transmission regularly, it can last a good long time. thing is...heat is the #1 killer of auto transmissions. most people believe in not changing transmission fluid until its too late. even synthetic fluids break down with heat. and most cars are NOT driven nice and easy as reccommended. (even old people mash the gas hard here and there)
the 3 speed on my 83 caddilac cimmaron (yes, 1983) is still going. between my driving and my moms driving when she bought it new in 83, it easily had to be over 200,000 miles by the time i got it, and def by the time i finished and bought my 99 cavalier in oct 1998. both cars we still have and are still working.
I just changed it at 148k...i have no idea if it was ever changed before, but it was still a decent color (dark red, but still red) and did not smell. i changed the fluid, filter and pan gasket and its not at 150K and no problems Knock on wood. So i think im in the clear.

how can you compare a 06 honda trans to a 13 year old car's? lol apples to oranges with the age differences
wasnt really comparing, more just stating that i didnt expect it to ever be as smooth as my other car.

I had 197K miles on mine when I had It rebuilt. The tech who did the rebuild said it was actually fine, but didn't blame me for rebuilding it, with that high of mileage. Only did it, because I was doing the engine at that time and I didn't want to have to pull it all again, after the engine was done.
well when mine goes, due to availability of time, and my mechanical skill I will either be putting a qualty used or rebuilt trans into mne when the time comes, but i will not rebuild it myself. I did the 4spd auto on a buddies Lexus ES300 awhile back...NEVER again will I rebuild an auto transaxle.

I've seen them last over 350,000 miles with proper maintainence.
