i have a 98 sunfire gt 2.4 5 speed i want to take the shifter/ shifter mount from my 2000 parts car (also 5 speed) and install it into my 98 ,is this possible?
I'm not an authority, but the FAQ says the '95-'99 cars have the "Isuzu" transmission and the '00-'05 cars have the "Getrag". Until someone more knowledgeable chimes in, I'm guessing the shifters wouldn't be compatible.
the reason i want to swap is because i have a short throw in my 2000 with the 2.2 , i know the 98 with the 2.4 is different but im thinking there must be a way to swap the whole shifter assembly from the 2000 into the 98 considering they r both 5 speeds with the same gear locations and even if u had to swap cables i think they r similar setups on the transmission ends. any help greatly apreciated, thxs for the reply
