when i drive my 95 sunfire (2.2ohv auto) sedan around 30-40 mph it bogs unless i give it gas and the noise sounds horrible.. i was just wondering if it could be something minor or something that should be checked... here's some new things i put in the car since i bought it.
new plugs n wires, new filters(fuel,air,oil)... anyone know whats could be doing this. thanks spanky..

your title draged me in

as for your problem, Im having trouble understanding your symptom. how does a car bog if your not on the gas?

can you localize the noise?

Sounds like the Torque Converter Clutch solinoid or switch is hainging up.

Disconnect the plug with pink and tan wires, on the front of the transmission, located below the battery tray. This is the power for the TCC. Take the car for a test drive and see if it does it again, if it does then the switch or solinoid are bad. You will probably get a CEL, being the TCC is disconnected.

What do you mean hanging up?

The TCC stiking in the engauged mode. The TCC is a clutch in the torque converter, that mechanically locks the TC instead of using fluid shear to turn the transmission. It saves a few rpm while cruising, to help save gas. The most common problem with the TCC system is the solioid valve sticking.

I'd agree that the TCC could be the culprit. I experimented with HPTuners to intentionally keep the TCC engange at city-cruising speeds (where it usually only engage at highway speeds), and the result was a lot of rough "bogging" at the lower rpms.

thanx guys as soon as I get home from work im going to check it out, and would it damage anything if i were to drive it around till next week. when i can afford to fix it????? if not i'll just keep it plugged in because it doesn't seem to be doing it as often as it was ....(usualy once or twice while cruising back and to work... )

I know what the TCC is, and what it does. I just didn't know if you meant its not disengaging.

But, if that was the case then the engine would stall when he came to a stop.

If the switch is sticking, then it might not release till much lower rpm / lower line pressure.

Irregardless of which is the problem, it's under the valve body cover, behind the left front tire. You don't have to drop the tranny, but it's still a PITA to reach (better than changing the TC!)

True.

but will it damage anything if i disconnect it and drive around in it for like 2-3 days???? if not i'd rather just keep it in and deal w/ the bogging .... thanx spanky

A slight loss of gas milage, the tranny might run a little bit warmer and the CEL, otherwise no problem. It'll be the same as driving a pre TCC tranny vehicle.
