Alright guys, so after having the car parked for roughly 8 months even though I would tow it here and there (always in neutral), I went to move the car today in 1st, all was well. Following, tried to back up, car will not move out of 1st gear. I can put it in the 1st, 4th, and reverse positions, but all lead to the car still moving forward. In 4th the car goes under load and the revs come down as if the clutch is engaging, but the car does not move the slightest bit. The cables are fine on both ends, everything gravy there. Moved the selector brackets by hand on the trans trying to get in into any other gear, no dice. Popped the selector cover off, all looks well. What the @!#$ is going on here? The car was absolutely perfect when I put it back. All that pops into my head is shift fork fatality. Doesn't make much sense, tranny gurus please chime in! PS, it is a built izuzu with a quaife and cryo'd 2.2 gears.
Blew it up, build numbers coming soon
shift rails\forks are @!#$.

Understood, but from sitting?

Did you move the selector by hand with the cables still hooked to it? I mean, it doesn't make sense to me that just sitting there would damage the trans. Mine sits all the time and it's fine, I leave it in gear otherwise the brake cable ties up and my back brakes sit there stuck when I try to move the car. But at one point my car did sit for several months without even having the axles in it, and it still works fine.
Sounds like the shift select jumped out of the gate, leaving it stuck in gear.
