so i got my new trans (thanks, whoever sold me this! forgot your name....lol) anyways, it bolts up to the engine just fine and dandy. but theres a problem. the mounts. my old 2.4 tranny has 2 visible mounts. front top and the back on the bottom. new one has one visible mount, top center. thats not right.... i think either its off another ecotec powered car or maybe the mount itself is just big and goes between the two mount points...maybe? im very confused, as bot say f23 on there but the case mounting points are waaaaay different.
HELP!!!
just for reference, the new engine came off an 03 sunfire, tranny from an 04 cavalier and its going into a 2000.
pics to clarify
my old tranny
my new tranny
through a little "detective work" (first page on google images) i found two cleaned up versions of the same trannys.
old style (clean)
new style (clean)
i dunno if these pics will help, but heres more of the new tranny

Get all the parts you need in a pile, and drive the car into it.
They will find their way into the correct places.
what truly confuses me is the donar (cleaned up pictures) the OLD one says 2007 and the NEW style says 2004. im guessing thats just picture copyright date. but @!#$.......

nevermind, i figured it out. new tranny is off of a Saturn Vue. its the MG3, whereas the cavalier/sunfire runs the M86. (i learnedededed alot today (: ) the only difference is the fifth gear ratio and the amount of weight each is rated to carry. most of you prolly know this but for anyone that doesnt, heres the scoop:
--M86 (cavalier, sunfire, alero, ect)
1 - 3.58
2 - 2.02
3 - 1.35
4 - .98
5 - .69
R - 3.31
Axel Ratio - 3.94
Maximum GVWR of 4094 lb
--MG3 (04-07 Saturn Vue)
1 - 3.58
2 - 2.02
3 - 1.35
4 - .98
5 - .81
R - 3.31
Axel Ratio - 4.41
Maximum GVWR of 4475 lb
GVWR is Gross Vehical Weight Rating i think. as you can see its only the fifth gear thats different, aside from the casing, as seen above. the Axle Ratio (same as final drive i think...) is also different.
now being that im dumb, i want to know a few more things.
The main thing i wanna know is based on the gear ratios. now i read up on these a little, and found it all rather confusing. i want to know which would have a higher top end, in order to be at lower RPMs at cruising speeds in fifth. is it the lower number or the higher number with the higher top end?
thanks

look at the other gear ratios....
1 - 3.58
2 - 2.02
3 - ....
therefore the higher number must mean more revs, less speed, correct?
therefore it would be the same for 5th...
the vue gear would give you higher revs at cruise speed, and less top end.
My dads Vue at 70 MPH is at about 3K RPM while my J is at about 2500 (from what I recall, its been a while). The Vue has much taller tires than the J.
swap the case's....
