broken axle

I was at the track 2 weeks ago and I snaped an axle, pass side and its the spline part that goes in the tranny. I cant think of any way to get it out other than taking the tranny out and breaking it down. anyone have this issue before?

personally what I would try is drill a big hold in the remaining stub thats stuck in there, tap the hold and thread a nice meaty bolt into it to give you somethign to grab onto then pop it out using the bolt

im pretty sure the axles are hardened steel. so I guess I would have to get a diamond tip bit but what about tapping?

Well i just looked in your profile and it doesnt say u have a LSD. so my suggestion is to take the driver side axle out. and take a big punch or something ram it out enought from the side gear to grip it with channel locks or somethign and pull. Give it a shot! Just be careful about hitting the seals. They are a bitch to replace.

I'm with Brandon. If you don't have the LSD insert try popping it out from the other side first. Could save you tons of time and trouble.

Ill try and get pics when I go to work on it again. but I did take the other axle out and try that but one prob when I looking inside theres the differential pinion shaft that keeps me from being able to push it out the other side. I have tried everything but drilling. A machinist told me I have to get a carbide drill bit. So Im off to go get it.
