First time poster, long time reader...
I have a 98 Z, no serious mods but not exactly stock either.
I thought my clutch was bad, so as I remove my transmission to get down to it, this is what I find...
My flywheel sheered off in the center... Anyone else had this happen?
And the rest of the flywheel, still attached to the motor...
its happened plenty of time, usully to Spec/Fidanza flywheels
That's the combo I have... Spec Stage 3 and Fidanza flywheel
I meant a Spec lightened flywheel... unless they are one in the same
I don't know if they still are but they were made by the same company
yeah i have seen MANY have that issue. that really sucks...
I recently put one on my car(fizanda) I hope this never happens to me. But damn
Sorry to see that.
Fidanza are cheaper for a reason. Fidanza out sources their flywheels and fight the out source companies on cost... So they cheap out (the company making them for Fidanza). You will not see as many, if any SPEC ones do this... Fidanza are more likely to do this IMO.
SPEC and Fidanza are no longer together...

Yeah I am so glad SPEC went to someone else on their flywheels. They were getting such a bad rep because of Fidanza cheaping out.
I used to race cars, now I race myself.

When did this happen? Spec was just on the org 3-4 months ago saying Spec and Fidanza flywheels are one in the same.
FU Tuning
Same in design, but not made by the same place. These issues are not because of the design, but the material grade.
For example Fidanza and SPEC may state "6061 aluminum" however there are cheaper "grades" of this....
Also when Jeremy (From SPEC) came on I am sure he didnt say they were the "same" by the means of, where they are manufactured....
This is the info we received, it should be accurate.

They all break in the same location ie. design flaw.
What other light weight options do we have if any, how about a billet steel one?
IMO there really isn't any off the shelf goo choice for clutch/flywheels for J's. Hell Spec can't even make a freakin clutch that has consistant engagement, the selection is borderline pathetic
^^^ yeah.. how long has it lasted now paul? a whole summer of 7500 rpms right?
your fidanza's both gave up in less time, yes?
too bad the unorthodox is ONLY available for the the older j's... wait.. HAHAHA finally we have something you newer guys dont.
