Ok, I wanna know this for myself as well as my buddy's shop Im trying to help out. They do import swaps, domestics aren't there strong point. Here's what we got. 2000 Grand Am with the 3.4L and customer wants it converted to a 5 speed manual. There is a donor car we have that is an old 3.1L Sunbird. Will that tranny fit on to the 3.4L? And what axles do I go with?

You can do this 2 ways......
You can use that 3.1 Sunbird trans, but you will need the shift cables for it, and shifter..... the 99+ 5 speed axles should work.
OR you can use all the parts that came from the 5 speed 2.4/2.2Eco 99+ Grand Am's (shifter, cables, mounts, axles), and use a transmission from a '00+ 2200 J-body.

Oops, hit post to soon......
in the first option, you'll have to fab up your own trans mounts, as I'm sure the stock ones wont work.
