hi to all! alright. i was beating on my 133k mile 2200 sunfire on sunday, i stood on the gas & held the pedle while i shifted into second. than the shifter got real sloppy would only go into 3 gear.
made it home, messed around with it, found it goes into all 5 gears not reverse(by turing the lever on the trans). nothings broke on the shifter that i can see taking the console out. the car will roll in all 5 gears, not reverse.(shifter won't hold it into reverse) any ideas???
trans is newer as well as the clutch. does anyone think it's a brokken shifter?

Did you check your shift cables????
Likely the shift cable pulled out of the casing. Had this happen to me recently also.

Part number you're looking for is 22650716 from the dealer, that or check out www.gmpartsdirect.com for a lower price. Personally, I wouldn't put a used set on as it'll likely happen on that in the not-so-distant future and you'll be replacing them again.
