I was wondering if there is anything I could do to improve my shifts or even some speed. I have a 2000 Cavalier Sedan 2200 w/ the Dreaded 3speed Auto. I am about to do a complete tranny flush on it, is there a good Fluid i can put in it to smooth shifts, and that isn't stupid expensive. Are there anythings I can do without tearing into the tranny, or rebuilding? I know of the valve kits, but i'd rather not take apart the tranny, being I have veryyyyy minor knowledge of transmissions. Thanks!

Fluid changes are fine tuning techniques. The different fluids have differnt viscosities. Smooth shifts aren't condusive to "speed". If a fluid, such as most synthetics, are used, you'll get a smoother shift, at the expence of more clutch slippage and slower engaugement of the gears. If you use a performance type fluid, such as B&M's Original TrickShift You'll get less slippage (quicker engaugement of the gears), but firmer shifts. The changes here would only be minor. A smooth luxory ride and performance are oppisite set-ups for an auto transmission.

Short actually going into the tranny, you won't make any big changes. Try talking to a transmission shop (not a chain shop like Aamco) that specializes in performance autos.
Ok, I am going to most likely try the TrickShift Fluid. How many quarts am I going to need for a full flush by the way. And should i just use a replacement AC Delco Filter. I probably won't get into upgrading the transmission, being it is just a 3 speed.
