I was on my way home, shifted my car into 5th and got nothing then to realize my shifter was doing a sloppy dance. Got the car home and took a look the shifter cables are all connected and work clutch peddle goes in no problems but i cant get into any gear. I had a friend of mine move the shifter everything moves were those levers move into gear but i cant hear in going anything else anyone know anything about this problem or know what it can be ? i was thinking to get a breakdown of the insides of this 5 speed my cars a 2000 sunfire.

If you can move the shifter around in circles, then your shift linkage/cables broke.

Pull apart your center console and check out where the cables attach to the shifter, something might have broke. One of the cables attaches to a cheap a$$ piece of plastic that breaks really easy.
