I am buying a 01z its hooked up with a rk sport kit, carbon fiber hood/trunk/ dropped(the right way) 4 point roll cage, pretty much the works for the STEAL that i am getting it for. but it is an auto and i cannot have any part of that. I love 5 speed, the motor has 57,000 miles on it but he said that it may need new lifters. Now i want to do a getrag swap but i called a few local yards and they all want like 500 for it with nothing no cables harness, absolutely nothing. So my question to you is has anyone done this swap. Im not in any rush or anything but it will be a summer project of mine. Do I need new brackets and everything also i need to get a reflash for this? but idk what else i have to do. Ive looked and searched so nobody rank on me for not using the search but all i find is a pre 00 swaps for the getrag.

ok thats fine but what about the whole reflash thing once it is installed. that part i do not understand, because my overall goal is to get the gm supercharger kit and have a boosted dd. any help is much appreciated
if it's an '01 Z, you have the Getrag already. no need for a Getrag "swap".
if you're adding the GM supercharger kit, you'll need the reflash.

He's got an auto now. I swapped a 2001 5 speed Getreg in my 2000 Grand Am. I just got the PCM from the donor car. (50 bux instead of 80/hour at the stealership). Then put on the GMSC about 3 years later. I bought my SC from the dealer so they had to reflash my PCM as part of the purchase price. That was fun to get them to finally pay for it, dealers can be such asses.
I also got the subframe out of the donor but you can weld the correct mounts onto your subframe. It's a pretty straight forward swap. Good luck.

why does this N/A car have a roll cage?
i would be worried about this supposed lifter problem before you go and start swapping transmissions. whats his reasoning for thinking its lifters? is it still a steal if you have to rebuild the head?
come one guys why hasn't any one flamed him with the typical SEARCH do a SEARCH. hell theres probably a sticky of what has to be done to do the swap i know i have seen the threads.

Its purpose is to be a father son project for me and my dad anyway so doing a motor swap/tranny swap was part of the original plan
