It is the 4T40E with 93000 miles on it. I changed the fluid (dropped pan only) and filter at about 50000 and again at 75000. I really want to flush it before 100k. The first question, can I do this by running fresh fluid through with the engine running while draining it out of the cooler line? If so, should I change the filter before or after doing this? I don't want to waste a bunch of fluid because I use Mobil 1 Synthetic, so would it be worth taking it to a lube place instead of doing it myself?
honestly, this is something i would only trust to professionals. and yes i do agree that getting a flush now since you have not yet done it is a good idea.
Wanting a nice set of black 17's with mint tires? Pm me.
Take it to a shop. Most of them will charge 1hr labor and the cost of the fluid. The equipment they use will not waste any fluid and it will be easyer then trying your self. Just make sure you tell them if you want any thing other then there run of the mill will work in all cars non synthetic trans fluid.
Build it, Beat the wee out of it, brake it so you have a reason to put more one into it =P
ye... we charge 130 for tranny flushes i think... were not the cheapest shop but i dont make the rules... but man you should see some of the stuff that comes out sometimes... it can be scary... im sure if you bring your own tranny fluid and what not they would drop the price down a bit because your not using there fluid... but make sure youve got enough... some cars will take like 11 liters of tranny fluid... maybe more... donno for sure about a sunfire/cavalier... mines a 5 spd... lol
