hello
i want to know what the better clutch kit?
my 2001 Z24 5 speed. by next summer the car will be puting out 450 or 400.
So i need to find out which one will work better
Spec Stage 3+ Clutch Kit With Spec Flywheel
OR
Clutch Masters Stage 3 OR 4 With Spec Flywheel Or Fidanza Aluminum Flywheel
Whic one IS THE BEST
thanks for the info
IMO SPEC stage 3+ and the Fidanza or SPEC flywheel.
Clutch masters have really had some issues on the cobalts, and IMO not many have yet purchased them for the cavalier/sunfire...

Not impressed with SPEC. They use a very grippy disc with a fairly light pressure plate to keep pedal feel the same, but then it doesn't last for poop. That's my opinion.
O noes!
Weird. My SPEC Stage II is fine. It's been in for quite some time and had seen regular abuse. Including taking the beating from a 3400. Perhaps they changed something over time to make them worse?
I also agree that you need to order a SPEC "+" series. They seem much better than the non SPEC "+" series kits.

I had a brand new spec stage 3+ break on me after 4000 miles. Tey refused to honor the warranty because it happened after 6 months. the car sat 4 months over winter... and broke the 3rd time driving it after winter. it really sucked, and I ended up needing a trans too, so I sold the car and the rest is history

BTW what broke on it?

I never stalled my bully stg 4, I came close a couple times. It take some getting use to but I genuinely liked it. Also it's not really "street-able", it's more race oriented. I still like it anyways...
Getting "better built" for the '08...
As far as the Cobalts, we had
bad luck with Clutch Masters, it was the wrong dimensions and rubbed on the bell housing... so we ended up going with a Spec stage 4 w/ Fidanza flywheel, like i said its in our SS, not a J, but i like it. It gabs like hell when you need it to, but over all its not that bad. if your good with the clutch it doesn't feel thaaaat much different than stock..
I would never buy a SPEC again either. I'm tempted to buy a ClutchMasters stage 3. Has anyone bought one before?

Spec stage 3 with lightweight option and light flywheel .. noisy as hell unless i engage it at 2000 rpm. no issues with mine almost 2 yr now.

If I had to buy another clutch it would be another ACT or a CM stage 3. Back in the day, most guys were putting in Clutch Master's without issue. That all changed when Spec's entered the market and started selling clutches cheaper, than CM's.

I know CM had major issues with any tranny/clutch combo connected to a B Series block on Honda's for a couple years, MOST Honda guys now curse there name.
