All auto's have stall converters (actually called high stall torque converter). The converters on ebay are new converters, but the only difference is the different stall speed between the stock one and the one you buy.

I believe the stock stall speed is 2200. I've been driving around with a 3000 stall yank for about a year now with no problems.

ive often wondered about the effectivness of these... do they just help you flash higher so the car is in the higher rpm's during launch? i think my car can be flashed up to 2800 or so doing a brake stand and it seems to be the best way to launch.

brian-when you launch yours do you brake stand it, or just stomp it.. or??? whats the difference over stock? does she jump outta the hole much better now with the 3000?

does yank even sell these anymore?

I was brake standing, but the car still tried to pull, so I wasn't able to rev it anywhere close to 3000 (I think I launched at around 1800-2000 or something). My brakes may have been shot at the time though...but they have just been replaced so that shouldn't be an issue now.

I don't think yank sells them anymore. I believe they are just a modified version of the 4t65 yank convertors anyways. Not positive on that though.

My yank stalls about 2700-2800.....suppose to be 3000rpm.
My stock stalls about 2000-2100.
Much better out of the whole with the yank. The flash seems to work better than the, "brake and gas launch", but the "brake and gas launch" is so much more consistent. The 4T65e stall is the same bolt pattern, and the same splines as the 4T40e..or at least the one from the grand am I looked at was......but I have NO idea what year it was from.

flash launch is where you nail it off of idle.
