after getting the trans disconnected from the engine i tried to snake it past the subframe but i still cant get the ho on the ground. is it possible to drop the autotrans with the sub frame still in or do i have to drop that too?

I'm pretty sure you will need to drop the subframe.

well its not that hard, the two bolts behind the engine were a pita to get. needed to make a 20 inch extention just to remove them. im just pissed that the haynes book let me down...again. the sub frame at this point should be hard at all, just need to get the ps rack disconnected and its only two bolts. 4 hours to drop that trans isnt bad.

the only other hard part other than getting the new trans back in looks to be lining up the tcc bolt holes with the flexplate. all of the transmissions that ive done had studs on the tcc this is the first ive seen like this and this one has been the easiest that ive done too. like i said before, i just wish the haynes book said something about dropping the sub frame because the engine and now transmission are being supported by jacks
