Hey i've got a 96 sunfire with an auto 3speed and i just swaped a new tranny in and i drive for about 15 to 20 min and if i stop the car dies so i put back to park and start it and put into drive and it dies yet agin what is going on with this damn thing?

Some background on how u drive the car would be helpful and have u checked the fluid? Is it full, does it smell burnt, what color is it? Are u able to drive it after it dies?

Well i drive like most people that are 40ish, the fluid is new ,and yes it's full and no it's not burnt, yes i can drive it after about 5 min of it starting and dies and starting and dies then off it go's

I think i know what is going on, i had this happen in my 94 sunbird once, i think it's called a neutralizer switch, once my car (tranny) got hot, it would stall at every stop light, once i replaced the switch everything was fine. The switch on my 94 was tucked in behind the drivers side wheel well accessable through an access plate, took a long time to get apart and back together, but it worked great until i got rid of it and in fact i know the guy who bought the car and it still runs fine, he's had it for three years nows and i replaced it about six years ago.
