Getrag swap rear mount measurements really needed!
Saturday, November 03, 2007 7:46 PM
I am in the middle of swapping a getrag into my 96 z24, I really need the measurements for the rear mount position, does anyone have measurements to were the bracket exactly goes, if so could you please post them up. I would really appreciate it.

Thanks, Josh

I eyeballed It when I did the swap on my 97 the back edge of the bracket will mount 8-9" from the fire wall you will have to cut the plate with the holes for the auto trans on the drivers side out.
the rest should be a cake walk.
heres a pic to help-

that arch in the driver side frame rail is where the plate is on the automatic just cut the plate out cuz it will keep the transmission from lining up....

I just cant drive 55

I have measured it a few times..it is 8" ffrom the firewall to the far side of the bracket. The firewall bumps out a bit where the steering goes through the firewall measure from not on the bump...then use that measurement to weld the back mount in and bolt the tranny up to find the front mount..phil

I think you might have to re-drill the hole for the bolt that holds the mount (but I'm not 100% sure on that).

You have to either move the hole about an inch forward..like i said weld in the rear and then use the tranny to do the front..or like me i am using both new rear and front mounts..the application is the same though..phil
