I have a '94 Cavalier 2 door, 2.2L I4, 5MT.

I'm looking to do some major upgrading.
Engine swap, suspension upgrades...
However, if I just drop an LS series engine in it, I'm liable to fry my transmission, especially tossing another hundred ponies or more on it.

I need to upgrade my tranny. I have no idea what I can bolt on that'll handle the oomph of a more powerful engine.

I need advice on this. Would a newer Getrag tranny possibly fit? If not, what do I need?

With what I'm looking at doing, it's going to need to be able to survive at least 240 HP and about the same amount of torque. (Thus, why I need to upgrade my brakes as well)

I'm still wondering if I'm going to need a new computer for this...

if that's a Getrag (it should be, but 2nd gen isn't my forte), you shouldn't need to do anything to the internals, except an LSD or LSD insert, and an upgrade clutch.

The 2nd gen had Isuzu transmissions. I'm talking anything from an LS5 from LS1. I've already been told that I'm pretty much going to ruin my tranny if I go too far.
