Confusing Problem...

Alright here's the dilemma: The tranny doesn't go into gear, it starts to inch into gear but stops. Now here's the part that confuses me... We jack the car up and the car goes into gear and wheels spin. I went through all 5 gears and reverse.

My friend told me that the car may be too low, causing too much stress on the axles and not allowing them to rotate...thus why it would only spin in the air.

Clutch is good, green sqwushy thing is new (I forgot the name and tired), clutch master slave cylinder is the only old part in the car.

What do you guys think the problem is? I am completely stumped...

Well you can X out the car being too low. Sounds like a issue with the shift fork to me. Maybe it could be shift cable related. Have someone try and put the car into gear and you watch the shifter cables under the hood when they can't get it to go any further see if you can push the shifter (on the tranny) further into gear.

Good idea John.

Here is more info

The transmission is a brand new GM Unit

the car will not go into gear while on the ground period, unless the car is off.

When the car is in the air the car will go into ever gear and shift fine, with the clutch all the way down the wheels stop moving.

Pj, and Myself have come to the conclusion it's the master cylinder, but John does have a good idea with the shifter cable
