long story short i broke the pin type thing in the housing that sits on the back top of the trans, with the shaft that spins and moves in and out. the pin that broke is the one that spins the shaft. anyone had this happen before? i have 02 LS sport with the ECO and getrag F23 trans. Heres is what i was thinking!
i could not get a pin to stay in there the wouldnt break in like 10 shifts so
1. remove trans mount and see if i could get enough room to push it over some to work in this area. how much will it move with the trans mounts gone but upper and lower motor mounts still in place?
2. can you just drop out the trans and not the motor by removing trans mounts and unbolting it from the motor and everything else? and just replace trans seal and fill with fluid afterward, or
3. is it easier to remove mote and trans all at once since i just need to get that top housing/shaft part out and make some sort of high strength pin and weld it in place.
Thats about all i can think of any info is greatly appreciated!!!! please help and if i said something wrong let me know. i need this fixed 3 days ago already and cant miss anymore work and college classes.

the easy way to BUY TIME... drill it out, take a grade 5 (so it bends, not breaks) bolt, weld it inside, and grind down the ends so the shift lever can move in its full range.
this hapened to me, 3 times 2 years ago.

i got it all out and apart and i drilled the shaft out to a 1/4" and put a rooll pin threw it, it is somid as heck right now no play at all in the shifts...... better then the day i bought the car. the hole in the shaft was smallr then the holes in the linkage part, so i made then all the same size... i hope it is a double role pin... like the OE one is..... thats what my first "fix" was....
