yo i searched for this and found nuttin but i have a 01 cava and it has a auto tranny in it ... so yesterday i was drivin it when it dropped all its oil and the engin locked up and now i have a hole in my block...
and i think that my tranny is shot too so i was wonderin if i could swap out the auto for a manual... then i read a auto is better for boost because there is no loss of psi so i might wana keep the auto and if so what good mods are there for the auto tranny... because i might as well do this wile im puttin a new gngin in it ... tear
IF YOUR GONNA GO DOWN ... THEN GO DOWN IN FLAMES
Autos are good for "turbos" not "boost" in general, because there is a constant load on the engine keeping exhuast flow up which helps spool-up. The 4t40e and pretty much any of the gm auto trans are blessed with being much stronger than what GM rates what the transmissions internals can handle stock. The downside to these transmissions though, are that they are heavier, cause a greater whp loss than a standard trans and the gearing is awful. However, if you are planning for more than 200whp (as it would appear), then the gearing will be much more fitted to that kind of power level.
Good, simple mods for an auto trans would be
-higher stall torque convertor (such as a Yank)
-and the B&M shift plus or the Autotrans interceptor (or HPTuners if you decide to go that route)
-
"Youth in Asia"...I don't see anything wrong with that.
Don't for get about the Solid Tranny mount we just released
