Im going to make a short throw shifter. Im needing some opinions though... I could make both the shift and select a shorter stroke, but i was thinking if the select is shorter, would that cuase missed shifts more often do you think? i believe the best would be a short shift, and standard select. Would you agree, and is that the way the current offerings of STS are set up? Thanks for your input.

Since no one has replied yet, I have to agree with your assumption. However, that depends on how much shorter the select will be. If it tightens up the gates too much then game over, but if it snugs them up by 1cm each or so then that could be nice. However @!#$ty shift cable bushings can cause that much slop too.
Well, yesterday i built a prototype. measurements in car determined 42% of the stroke was removed. Anymore and i believe its gonna start getting real hard to shift. At any rate, over on Quad4forums, we hashing out the final details on what the finished product will look like. Im gonna contract a machine shop to make a total replacement shift lever for the interior, looks pretty sweet in autocad.
I guess my next question is what other cars use this same shifter mechinism?
Im also looking into having replacement bushings made out of teflon to go with the package. These have extremely low friction, and are rather hard, so the factory rotten bushing slop will be eliminated as well.

I ran across an interesting "prebuilt" shortshifter assy on jbodyperformance.com for the 3rd gen. Any feedback?
