So all of a sudden my wife's car's ETS OFF light came on, and the transmission is engaging each gear very harshly. Not grinding or anything, simply everytime it shifts or if you go from drive to park etc. a big clunk is felt and heard. I have seen some posts referring to transmission mounts but they did not seem to rectify the problem, and I am not even sure if this will cause the ETS OFF light to even illuminate on the dash? I have a code reader which I know can read CEL codes but the CEL is not illuminated on the dash. I have had the transmission fluid changed less than 10,000kms ago so that should not be an issue there. Any ideas???

Well I just had the ECU scanned for codes and go this:
(Pending) DTC P0122 Throttle Position (TP) Sensor Circuit Low Voltage
Would this potential cause the issue I am experiencing?

It sounds as though you are somehow getting, by accident, the effect many people buy the "shift improver" products for. These products, such as the Autotrans Interceptor and B&M Shiftplus, will change the signaling to the transmission to increase the line pressure. This produces a much firmer and harsher shift, can cause a "clunk" coming out of park, and if turned up excessively can cause the ETS light to come on.
The only reason I can think of for this to happen without these products installed would be if you have some sort of electrical fault, or a problem with data/sensors coming back from the transmission. The first thing I would try is to remove the large round 20-pin connector at the front of the tranny, clean it up with some electrical cleaner, and reinsert. I'd probably pull the battery terminals for a while to let the ECU reset at the same time. Others might have more suggestions.

Someone has also mentioned the tranny and/or lower engine mount could be a culprit? Anyone else have any suggestions? I am thinking the car may need the dealer

Well mine did this when my IAT sensor went bad. I replaced it and it has been happy since.

The PCM is probably making the tranny operate in a limp mode. full pressure shifts, keeps the clutch packs from slipping when there is a problem. Diagnose/replace that TPS, and it ought to clear up. Disconnect the battery after replacing the part first though to clear the code and let the PCM relearn.
