Swap a 3spd to a 4spd? Or just go for the Ecotec Swap?

Hey Everyone,
Just started wondering this last night, is it possible to swap a 3spd auto to a 4 spd auto? (I won't say 5spd standard, because I think if I was swapping to a standard, I'd wait for an Ecotec swap.) I'm guessing it is, since both of them are on the same motor. But is it really worth my time and money, or should I just wait until I have enough for an Ecotec Swap? It's my guess I'd be able to find a tranny at one of the used Autoparts dealers, and put it in. But I could accumlate all the parts for an Ecotec swap for around a grand if I'm lucky, or so I am told. The 3 spd is just really pissing me off, it'd be great to have that extra gear. But, just tell me what youy think. I kniow it's probably really stupid to you guys, but I just gotta know! Thanks

One of the strong points of the 3-speed is that it's capable of handling more (power) than the 4-speed. You may want to keep that in mind if you plan on doing boost in the future.
