I was just wondering if anyone has a diagram of the break down of a Getrag transmission? If so could you please post it up here? I searched but didn't come up with anything. Thanks in advance, -Shawn
thanks for looking, there has to be one out there somewhere...
Ask the guy who runs this site where he got the diagram of the 4t40e trans. --> www.nygtp.com/transmission.html
Only good picture that I could find....

nice picture still not a break down of taking it apart. Truly you don't need a breakdown. It is a easy tranny to take apart.

I'm feeling bored and generous at the moment, so I'm going to go and see if I've got an open unit repair manual sitting around the shop.

This is from a 2002 Unit Repair. Sorry for the image quality. They're to stingy to get me a scanner, so I had to use a digicam.

Admittedly, that diagram is just the overview. If you need detail on the sub-assemblies, then splurge and buy the unit repair book for your year. It should cost around $50-75 depending on where you find it. The only downside is that it does all transmissions for car and light truck, so you'll have a lot of un-needed pages. GM's main book distributor www.helminc.com has them. If you're in Canada, you could even get them from me through my workplace.

That shot is more than enough. now that I have rebuilt mine (with the help of a friend) I do not need a book at all. The getrag is soo easy to do.
