98' quad 4 trans

hey my buddy got a 98' Z24 (QUAD 4 motor) in his Cavalier and he needs a manual trans for it can only a quad 4 trans fit that motor or can a different trans out of a different year work for it?? if anyone can help me please do ASAP!!

98 isn't exactly a "quad 4"...

Yes, only a 2.4 or 2.3 transmission will fit, on top of that, unless he's really good with a welder and wants to do a rather involved swap, he can only use the 95 to 99 Isuzu 5 speed.

well he had someone look it up and it said its a quad 4 and they tried other 2.4 tans and they dont fit does he need a 98 trans??

No... all the transmissions from 95-99 will fit, they are all the same. 98 was not a special year even though a lot of parts books says it is...

Doesn't have to be a z24, any 2.4 transmission will work.
