Grinding While Spinning Noise

Alright, so I'm 14 hours away from home and now I get to play name that noise with my transmission:

(I haven't updated my profile for this car, so for what this post needs to know, it's a '97 2.4 SF with rebuilt Isuzu, poly-trans and engine mounts, spec stage III clutch)

-It's a grinding while spinning noise
-It becomes quite noticeable around the upper RPM range of 2nd (not really or at all evident in 1st gear)
-It continues to get louder all the way through until the end of 5th
-When accelerating, it is of a higher pitch (though not a whine)
-When decelerating in gear, it lowers in pitch
-It does not make the noise when out of gear (ie. rolling in Neutral)
-If rolling in N, when I depress the clutch to shift, the sound begins again right from the moment I start to engage the shifter
-All shifts are fine, with no slippage
-There are no problems getting into gear
-It still hooks good under boost
-It is loud as all he!! and can be easily heard over exhaust (which is 3" -> resonator [no cat] -> 3" -> duals)

I was going to drain all the fluid, but being so far away, just eased the plug to let a sample flow through the threads, and there was a good amount of flake (looked like a metal flake paint mixture), and then to boot though, a couple of small "chunks"/metal debris (not just filings).

So, my guess is a bearing, but like I said, I'm about 1400 KMs from home and kind of in a crap situation with all of this out here right now, so other ideas or confirmations before I decide what to do would be great.

Anybody with ideas/suggestions, thanks.

Could be input shaft bearing..Which will cause oil to get on the clutch face..Or could be one of many other thing inside...Hard to really pin point it..But as a rule of thumb..Metal flakes are not a good sign..Best of luck..

Yeah, we pretty much chalked it up as the bearing is F-ed. I ended up deciding to leave my car out there rather than driving 14 hours back home and risk destroying more than just the trans, or completely destroying it and having me stranded out in the mountains somewhere. Crap part is, I'm here, and the car's 14 hours away in need of a transmission...
