I know not many people are well versed in transmission problems...but here goes.
I noticed the other day on my 01 2200 cav that upon accelerating HARD through first up till about 5800rpm in second (right before the shift from 2nd-3rd in an auto) the rpms seemed to hang and the transmission did not shift for a split second until I let off. Promptly after I started back in with the throttle to cruise I noticed the engine struggling, misfiring, and just doing all sorts of erratic things. I pulled into the gas station and took a look under the hood and found nothing, upon idling at a stop light after leaving the station also found that the idle would now drop from 700 to about 500 and get very rough. and it would sit there and surge back and forth. I continued limping it waiting for a CEL with no such avail. I did'nt get a trac off light until much later and even still it went off right away. It seemed as though it would run fine for a little bit after idling and such but then performance would slowly deteriorate over the course of crusing till it got to the point of it misfiring and running so horribly I could'nt retain my speed. Later that night after work I found the problem disappeared as well as the next day up until I drove again from the gf's house to work (same drive the problems started on) and once I got to work found that it would shudder and jerk only after complete stops. otherwise was shifting fine.
My first plan of attack is to change the fluid (pan drop with filter) Otherwise, anyone else got any suggestions? I may just go as a last resort (aka your trans is on the way out enjoy it while you can) to a 5 speed/ecotec and do it that way if I have to make any big major cost repairs. but I'd like to know if someone has an alternative.
Thanks!
Alex

I'm assuming you dont have a scan tool to tell us what the knock count is on it? My car was having an issue with the knock sensor and would pull timing a lot at high RPM (5spd) and when I shifted to 3rd gear it would misfire for a bit (or felt like it) as it was moving the timing back forward.
I do have a scan tool but if your talking about the I/M monitors I do not have a knock detection selection that I can ocheck that with. It came back with no codes anywhere.
