Well, after a couple days of trying random things and asking questions and researching, my girlfriend mentioned the problem with my car to a guy she works with, who happens to be in school for ASE certification. He came over and looked things over, we talked about what the car was doing, and he says that he's pretty much positive it's either the TOB or the slave cylinder. Well I do more research on here and find that in fact, the two are apparently one part as designed by GM? (F@ckin' retards)
So, now here I am, apparently at this point it's replace the TOB and slave cylinder. Well, I can't do so myself - just don't have the know-how and/or the tools really. And (like is usually the case) he says that most any shop won't replace just the bearing because they won't guarantee that then when reassembling everything, the clutch will still work properly being used. What it boils down to is, I'm looking for a new clutch and TOB/slave cylinder. Big question is, which one to go with? I'm looking at this mostly from the angle of cost, as I don't have ANY money as of right now and I know this is gonna cost an a$$load. Trying to research which clutches come with the TOB/slave and which don't, and how much the total cost would be if I have to get a slave cylinder from AutoZone or GM or whoever...so basically, which is my best bet, cost-wise? ACT - HDSS, SPEC Stage 2, Centerforce Dual Friction, Clutchmasters FX100, 200, or 300, ???
Note - I am not asking "which one is better?" because I can research and apply my own opinion there. The question is, "which one is cheapest, after all parts are included?" Basically my ultimate power goal for the car would probably be ~300 whp or so (and that's probably not that likely), and I'd like to not have to upgrade the clutch again to hold the power I'd make down the road. I have no idea where the money is going to come from, but I'll have to find a place. And "I have the SPEC Stage 2 and love it, go for that" is great, but at this point it's purely about which is going to get me back on the road the cheapest, but with room enough to grow. I'd love to go with a lightweight flywheel too when I do this, but I just don't see it in the cards unless someone's going to donate money.
ive seen centerforce dual frictions cheapest....around $300

But it doesn't come with the slave cylinder/TOB, I don't think? Looks to me like the best bet is the Spec - someone correct me if I'm wrong but ALL of the Spec clutches include the slave cylinder/TOB right?
And actually (I swear it was more when I looked before) but Gravana has the Spec Stage 1 (not the 2) for $259.50. Considering their free shipping deal they have going through Friday, I think that may be my best bet. Doesn't hold quite as much torque as I'd like (250 lb/ft) but realistically I don't know that the car would ever see more than that anyways.
I think that'll be the route I'm going...with money being tight, the cheapest is the best choice for me at this point, and I know that most people have pretty good luck with the Spec clutches (I had one on my Eclipse too), so I'm not too worried about quality.
Well what is your problem? Maybe we can help you some more.
As for clutches well you need to decide which route you want to go? Cheaper, or one you will not have to replace. Cheapest will probably be a auto parts store clutch. A good clutch to hold up would be a Spec, or a few others, but will be much more.

Turbo Tech is doing a Group Buy on Spec clutches and flywheels. Maybe now is a good time to upgrade

We will price match anyone except Ebay on SPEC. I am sure our group purchase price is much lower though.

Performance Parts For Cavalier, Sunfire, Cobalts and More!!!
Actually Aaron, I did just order the Spec Stage 1 from you guys the other day. I figured everything out and yes, you were the cheapest with the deal
I intended all along for it to be an upgrade rather than just an auto parts store clutch, just was thinking that I really wanted something more along the lines of the stage 2. But the more I thought about it the more I realized that my car is just (more than likely) never going to see those kinds of power levels - I mean, the stage 1 is good to around 250 wtq, so pushing close to 300 whp with the Spec Stage 1 would be possible (although probably not good for an extended period of time). If I ever get to the point that I really need more holding power, I would imagine that the cost of replacing this clutch wouldn't matter that much then anyways. I did make a nice pickup on eBay today though - since my parents are helping me out with the money for installation and all (I really didn't see this coming), I picked up a refurbished Fidanza flywheel for $160 shipped. New ring gear, friction surface, and hardware. Hell the stock one would have to have been resurfaced anyways and while not expensive, that would have cost a few bucks anyways. I'll just ride my bike (the kind you pedal) a couple more days to offset the cost.
