2001 auto 4 speed. I am just wondering if i got enough tranny fuild , I picked up two 4 liter jugs. I'm also changing the filter and gasket. thanks
i would check your car manual. on my ecotec, i think it takes 9.6 quarts
Since there is still going to be fluid in the transmission, you cant cant just put in a specific amount since you dont have a dipstick.
There is a bolt on the passenger side of the tranny (11 or 12mm cant remember).A helms manual will tell you exactly where the bolt is. remove it and fill the tranny until fluid comes out. Put the bolt back in and start the car. Shift through the gears a few times.Remove the bolt with the car running and fill with fluid until it comes out again. PUT THE BOLT BACK IN BEFORE SHUTTING THE CAR OFF. otherwise you will have a mess.
your owners manual will tell you how much fluid you need. it should have 2 specifications, one for a flush and filter and the other for a complete overhaul. a complete overhaul will require more fluid. i think that with the flush and filter you still leave some fluid in the torque converter. in my 3spd auto p.o.s it's 7.5 liters for a flush and filter and 9.5 liters for the complete overhaul so yours shouldn't be that far away from these figures. but again check your manual for the correct specifications.

dont guess on how much fluid to put in..even if a manual tells you how many quarts it holds ,you are still guessing. what I posted is how to get the correct amount of fluid in the tranny.
