When i first got my cav, i membered when i Went to Ocean City, Somehow i was able to Spin tires in 1'st ,Chirp 2'nd, 3'rd AND 4'th. is that normal for a Ecotec? or is that not normal? Whats your Input?
BTW:i have a 02 Ls Sport w/Ecotec 5-speed
Is that why you are removing tranny?
Yes..... Lol no. Cuz i have no 2'nd gear and my Slave went up..
well maybe they gave up due to the way it was driven? prolly why it cant be done now..for whatever reason youd want to do that
your not chirping the gears your chirping the tires. The tires lose traction because of the power transfered to them. Stop beating on your car, cause chirping the tires doesn't make you faster it slows you down.
Want to do what.? I meant Chirping Tires n not gears! I could Chirp 1-4 when i first got the car, and that has been almost 2 years ago, and the tranny didnt mess up cause of my driving.. it was a friends BTW.
what i meant by my question was... Can every Ecotec Cav Chirp there tires n almost every gear? w/o Redlining
I call
There is no way ANY j-body can chirp the tires in 3rd or 4th unless its HEAVILY modified.

. Cuz i have done it... I just think your shifting has to be done just right
maybe i did redlined or i didn't... but i Chirp'd 3'rd and 4'th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
is it
that i put down over 12x hp and i 135hp on the Dyno?
Sorry, you weren't chirping tires. You were probably wrecking things inside the tranny that was making noise. Stupid post...

all i was just doin was asking a question, n i get Bashed for something so little. Just a question n all i wanted was a couple answers
Hey, you asked if it was normal for an ecotoc, and I gave you an answer that it isn't possible for ANY j-body unless its heavily modified. I call
, as will others. Unless you had some @!#$ty ass tires, driving on cement, going around a corner, hitting a small bump, and shifting at the same time while dumping the clutch at redline, it's simply not gonna happen. Something else was making the noise. Or maybe you can't count gears

If you say so man.... If i didn't chirp "tires" i wouldn't have made this tread.
Yea so maybe i redlined it, thats because it was 2 years ago n i was actin stupid n having fun, thats all... n i wanted to know if any one else was capable of do it thats all.
I'm done. I'll let the other speak

You do realize it depends on tires and road surface right......... its like me saying I can spin my tires right through 3rd or 4th gear in the rain and I STILL do not get traction, tires doing 150 while the car is physically only doing 50... wtf is up with that?
A friend changed clutches and he could easily chirp (and actually spin for a second +/-) in 3rd, but really, that doesn't mean your making mad power.

WOW who are you? "Chirping" tiers, now thats a way to win races!
and i though i was doing good with my Z24 cutting 2.0-1.9 60' times on street tires and getting a very, very small noise when i hit 2ed.
tier spin= noise= loss of traction.
and i would be willing to bet, if i shifted slow enuff, with out taking my foot off the gas peddle, i could "chirp" all of my gears too.
but what to i know, my tranny lasted though 3 race seasons and 120K. ( read stock clutch too)
OH MAN you red lined it!
@!#$ tom, what are we doing going 600 RPM past the red line on out stock LD9's?
you need to learn more.

lets not bash the kid too hard. i did it once before in my 00z. conditions were stock tires, late fall temps and no rain.
is it smart, no
can it be done, yes.
before you bash me as well, yes i know the consequences both on your ET and your wallet, i replaced both my engine and transmission myself.
if he had the same junk tires all z24/ lss's came with who knows?
from my experiences i would never try it again, but after 6 years with my Z i learned my lesson, just like we all do
mike
when i first got my 97 Z it would 'chirp' 3rd gear pretty well, and it was pretty close to stock. theres no way in hell it woulda done 4th tho, my god... our cars fall on there faces after you shift from 3 to 4... i honestly dont see it happening without big power.

@!#$ty shifting.

my fully stock 2.4l quad four stock motor with the stock tranny used to chirp from 1st to 4th and now it dosent chirp at all cause i got a hole in my tranny
but i was surprised chirpin ure tires can also mean dat ure tires are worn down and need replacement
Give me a 20 degree day and absolute garbage tires, and I'll chirp 5th on an I3 Metro. Your car isn't that powerful, you're just driving the piss out of it, likely on very worn or very cheap tires.
