My manual tranny took a big ole' dump. GM says $250 to tear it apart just to see what it is. Then I ask waht about a reman. they said$2100. And I have yet to find a bone yard that has a tranny. So since I never asked GM maybe you guys can answer this. Are they able to replace parts internally or are they gonna tell me after spending the $250 that i need to buy a $2100 transmission cause that isnt gonna happen the car has 180,000 miles on it and isnt worth $2100. Just your thoughts

Typically to R&R, teardown and diagnose, then repair you're looking at around $1k. They may end up telling you its totally screwed, or that its an easy to replace part. When my tranny went I just got a reman from Autozone (wouldn't recommend them), and it cost me $950 + labor and new clutch install.

you should be able to find them all day long for under 400 used on www.car-part.com
