used lucas tranny fix, speedo bugging and weird shifts

'99 5.7 'burb, 4L60E, stock tranny cooler. started slipping a few months ago and just got around to throwing this stuff in there today. Put about 10 oz of lucas tranny fix in, drove it around for a little bit, seems to be shifting too early now, and my speedo is acting up. when I hit the gas, it takes about 5-7 seconds for the needle to move up from zero, and even then it moves very erratically and slowly. when I hit the brakes the needle will actually go up about 5mph, stay there for about 10 seconds, then eratically go back down to below the zero mark on the cluster. this is pissing me off, and I really don't need a speeding ticket right now because I don't know how fast i'm really going.

That's what I thought.. I've heard very good things about lucas tranny fix except a few people who aren't too fond of it. The level on my dipsick (checked hot, at idle) is above the bend in the dipstick, so I think I overfilled. I was under the impression that there was a valve that let off excess fluid if you overfilled by too much... could that be my problem?

I don't understand how that has anything to do with my problem.. I know this is a j-body forum but I figured somebody here has to know something about the 4L60E, or my problem in general. I do have a dipstick.. I just drained the fluid out until it was at normal capacity (on the crosshatch HOT pattern on the dipstick) at operating temperature (180deg) and it didn't help.. now I have a 'CLUNK' when I shift into reverse.

Fluid looks normal color, btw.

Tranny fluid doesn't smell burnt, and visually, it is fine. No, I didn't change the filter or fluids, heard its possible to do more harm than good... tranny is no longer slipping, just shifts at different points..

Are you not supposed to flush out the old fluid and put some fresh stuff in with the lucas ?

I remember Lucas saying it was fine to add on top of your old fluid. I put a bit in the 3 speed auto in my Beretta - now I'm doing a 5 speed swap because the auto took a @!#$ shortly after. I haven't had good luck with stuff, and I don't recommend putting anything that thick into an automatic tranny.

There is no valve to let out excess fluid. It sort of sounds like your VSS is getting funky. Are you getting a check engine light? The obd2 4l60e vehicles will throw a CEL when an issue arises with the tranny electricals.

No CEL, scanned anyway, no codes. Pulled both VSS', clean, no metal on the magnets.

Damn, I don't have any good ideas then. If it was a 700r4 I could have you fixed up, but I stay away from the E trannies.

i was under the impression that the 4l60e was just an upgraded versio of the 700r4 they just changed the name cause the bad rep. that the 700r4 had

Best thing to do, Drop the tranny pan, Change the tranny fluid, To the orginal state, The lucas fluid could be causing the tranny to act in that way, Or one of youre tranny's shift solidoides are delayed.
