I have a 4t60 in my chevy 3.1l and today I pulled out of my driveway and I did not have any forward gears. It was like in neutral. I can put the car in Low range and have first gear but it slips under heavy acceleration. I also have reverse. The fluid checks out ok. The transmission has 200000 mi on it and I am debating whether or not to pull it out and take it to the shop for a rebuild. Do you think its time for a rebuild or is this a easier fix? i think it may be a second gear clutch but then why do i not have first in drive. Thanks.
What kind of car do you have? If its rwd then i haven't a clue. if you own a j-car then its fwd and you would need the 4T65E. You need a custom transmission pan and the engine has to be tilted forward for the transmission to fit. Either way if its slipping you might just want to have it drained and flushed. My 76 blazer has 250000 miles on it and it still doesn't slip.
