Well the first things first my car is a 2004 cav with Hahnracecraft stage 2 at 10psi.
I made the mistake of driving my car on jack stands after I put in a spec stage 3 and new TOB/slave to see if it would leak. So I got it into 5th rear and gave it a couple good revs. When I did that BOOM. The car dies instantly. I am assuming knock sensor killed it. The car starts right back up. I go through the gears again to see if all is well. 5th wines really bad when power is put to it. Even worse when 5th is free wheeling. Kind of a metal grinding gears not meshing at 100% kinda noise. So I drive home no problems.
About a 3 days later of back and forth to work I loose 2nd gear. It goes in gear engages and then the second you put power to it, it pops out of gear with authority. I even tried to hold it in gear with no luck.
So people tell me its cheaper to get a junker than it would be to rebuild the old one. So $400 later I have a junker out of a 03 sunfire that looks like it had been rolled. I put that one in and now I can't find 1st half the time. 3rd doesn't do anything but grind. 5th is a bitch to get in gear but once its in it works. 5th has the same whine as the old tranny though.
2nd, 4th, Reverse are all really tight. They go in gear fine but you can feel every bit of the gear as it slides in.
I don't know what to do at this point. I am really close to being broke and I need the car for back and forth to work.
Please Help.

what your describing is symptoms of bad/misadjusted shift cables... Adjust the cables and see if it gets better.
Are the adjustments on the shifter side under the console? My Haynes manual didn't go into that at all.

Yeah its under the console. I cant remeber what it looks like or how exactly to adjust em but give it a try.
Well I adjusted them and it looks like it worked. I only went for a short test drive. 1st and third worked well. Never went fast enough to try 5th. Thanks for your help.
