That's the good one. I've done my clutch 3 weeks ago and it is the same tranny....
It is a getrag, but for a 2.4, I could not tell you. You have a getrag for the 2.4, for the 2200, an for the Ecotec. They all have different bellhousings.

Yea, that's the problem. I really need to make sure it's for the 2.4 because otherwise it's useless to me...
Any more input on this would be great as I'm going to pick it up in about 12 hours...
Well I'm going to pick it up, hope this is the right one...lol
looks like a eco or a 2.2
the starter is higher up on the 2.4
Hmm, well he said it didn't fit on his eco, so it shouldn't be for the eco...
i'd recommond to go with NVG T550!!!
old school getrag kicks ass!
100% not for the LD9 judging by the starter location - sorry.

So that means it has to be for the 2200 then...
yea, its a 2200 trans...... BUT the bell housing will swap over from a 2.4 or Eco w.o a problem (say, from your stock trans)
I have a Eco F23 in my Z24 now.... just put my bell housing on it

it would work on a 2.8-3.9 60*V6 or a 3.8 SC.........

how hard is it to swap the bell housing? and also how different is the gearing between the 2200 and 2.4 i ask this because of what the j-body faq says:
Quote:
2000-2005 model years, 5 speed cars all used the "Getrag" transmission (F23), regardless of engine. The bellhousing and gearing is different between 2.2L, 2.4L, and 2200 engines, and is not easily interchangeable.
the gearing is the same for 00-05 J-bodies....... the Cobalt, HHR, and Saturn Vue get slightly different gear ratios (and FDR's)
The bell housing can be swapped in about 15mins (on a trans already sitting on a work bench)..... there are a few posts that show how to pull the F23 apart (John Higgans has one)

So if I swap out the bell housings then I should be good to go, and I shouldn't be upset that I just bought a transmission that I thought wouldn't fit my car, right?
Haha, please tell me I'm right...lol
Also too if someone could direct me toward the post that shows how to pull the F23 apart that would be great. I searched for 15min and didn't find what I was looking for. I could be blind though...
Anyone? I hate to be a pest but we have a guy lined up to do the swap later this week and I really need to know if I'll be able to use this transmission. Thanks in advance...
john has posts that will answer your questions....

Well I'm just trying to make sure that if I take this transmission that I have ( not sure if it's from the 2200 or Ecotec ) and swap the bell housing with my stock 2.4L bell housing that it will work with my car...
its deffinitly not from a 2200, they use the small gm patern and that is deffinitly not it. the small gm pattern is 6 bolts that are fairly evenly spaced.
i would have to say that is in fact an ecotec tranny.
