Was in the wife's sunfire 99 gt. Chanded the gear into 1st to leave and the shifter went straight down. All the damb thing does is go up and down. No gear engagement at all. I am stumped here cause I know jack about tranny repairs. Are my cables gone or could this be a different problem?

I'd assume it's a broken cable.
5 speed. Took centre consol out all cables attached. Can't track down the cables under car. Also it is raining like a B@#C!.
thanks anyways the car is on a tow truck to the damb shop.
