Very Happy i talked to a guy that lives in winchester and had a truck at that shop that i was going to have do the work and it took them 2 weeks to rebuld a tranny in his truck and ended up costing 2600 bucks so thats why i changed my mind... i cant afford to go that long without my car... i found a tranny for 350 plus my old one or 400 straight up and they have 2 one with 30,000 miles and one with 40,000 miles... Well there isnt much to it.

You need a hoist, the subframe usually has to be dropped a lot, front tires removed, CV shafts removed, there are normally about 10 bolts from the TQ housing to the engine, otherwise just nuts and bolts and connectors.

First what is wrong with your tranny?
Secondly you do not need a hoist to remove the tranny.
It is not too hard to remove a tranny out of a J. Being in a junkyard could make a little harder depending if the car is on the ground or not.

I read the post I'm with SpeedRacer shift fork (or the nylon tip on the fork). I had this happen as well. Same thing. I'm thinking you can get away with a cheaper fix. We rebuilt mine ourselves and installed TG LSD and my Spec clutch and flywheel. If I can get you the shift fork for a good price do you have the means of opening the tranny?

I'm willing to bet money it is the shift fork/nylon tips on the fork.
I thought I might have a good shift fork, but I do not. Maybe SpeedRacer can tell you if you can buy just the nylon tips.
